Arsene Wenger has revealed he was
close to leaving Arsenal last season,
before signing an extension with the
club.
Arsenal failed to qualify for the
Champions League under Wenger, for the
first time in his 20-year stay at the club,
however, he won the FA Cup.
The Gunners were far from top notch
last season, with calls of ‘Wenger Out’
from fans becoming a regular for Arsenal
last season.
Nevertheless, Wenger put pen to paper
on a new two-year contract , but has
admitted it was a tough decision to
make.
“Yes, I hesitated over signing an
extension for personal reasons,” Wenger
told Telefoot on Saturday.
“I’ve been here for 20 years and you
wonder all the time if you should go on
managing the club, also because last
season we struggled a lot.”
